We are seeking a highly skilled Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) Operator with specialized experience to operate critical countermeasure systems. This role is pivotal in maintaining the safety of JovEx vessels and their cargo.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain the ship's self-defense countermeasure systems, including:
  • Mk 36 SRBOC Chaff: Deploy chaff to disrupt radar-guided threats.
  • Mk 214 BSIRCM Flares: Deploy flares to confuse heat-seeking systems.
  • VACM-161 SM-3 Block IIA Missiles: Engage and neutralize long-range missile threats.
  • Scutum CIWS: Neutralize threats leaking through other countermeasures.
• Conduct pre-mission system checks, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance to ensure operational readiness.
• Monitor radar and other threat-detection systems for potential dangers in the Jovian system.
• Collaborate with the ship's crew to deploy countermeasures effectively during high-risk situations.
• Document and report system performance, threat engagements, and countermeasure efficacy.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience operating or maintaining Mk 36 SRBOC Chaff, Mk 214 BSIRCM Flares, VACM-161 SM-3 Block IIA Missiles, and Scutum CIWS.
• Background in military or civilian maritime/space defense operations preferred.
• Technical proficiency with military surplus defense systems.
• Strong decision-making skills and the ability to remain composed in high-pressure scenarios.
• Familiarity with radar and basic electronic warfare systems is an advantage.
• Willingness to work in confined quarters and adapt to life aboard interplanetary vessels.
